Michael Kramer represented Wayne in his efforts to be released from his Cash Money Records contract and on Monday (Dec. 21) filed a lawsuit against his former client in the Manhattan federal court for failing to pay $375,239 in fees,XXLreports.Lil Wayne is reportedly being sued by his former lawyer over unpaid legal bills.
Wayne agreed to pay Kramer $20,000 as an initial retainer and then subsequent monthly bills in July 2013, according to Kramer's suit, but the rapper allegedly failed to pay those bills.
XXL reports Kramer's law firm billed Wayne unsuccessfully from November 2014 to October 2015 and finally dropped him as a client due to the outstanding debt.
Kramer claims in the lawsuit he "made numerous attempts to resolve the dispute amicably. These attempts were ultimately unsuccessful."
Wayne was sued in October by another law firm -- Garbett, Allen and Roza -- for $80,000 in unpaid legal fees. That firm was representing Wayne in a lawsuit against him from private jet leasing company the Signature Group, to whom he was ordered to pay $2 million in missing payments.

For the better part of 2015, the rising tension between Young Thug, Lil Wayneand Birdman has been a publicly broadcast family feud between a mentor and his quarreling "sons." Lil Wayne was fighting for his independence, trying to stop himself from becoming irrelevant musically, while Thug just seemed indifferent to it all while trolling on Instagram.
Within the past few weeks however, the story has taken a disturbing turn. Last week, Birdman and Young Thug were named in an indictment against the man who reportedly fired shots at Lil Wayne's tour bus in April. This has lead many people to wonder where it all went wrong, just how far back the schism between Wayne and Birdman began, and how Young Thug fits into the mess. Billboard's created a handy timeline that points out the parallels between Birdman's two prodigal sons in the hopes of getting to the bottom of this truly heartbreaking drama.
February 2005 -- After a lengthy bidding war, Lil Wayne re-signs with Cash Money Records, turning down a potential relationship with Jay Z's Rocafella Records. He signed a long term deal with Birdman, that came with his own label, Young Money Records.
February 2011 -- In an interview posted on Youtube, a 19-year-old Young Thug predicted that he would one day sign to Young Money Records with Lil Wayne.
August 2011 -- Lil Wayne dropped Tha Carter IV. It sold 964,000 copies in the first week. It'd soon look to be like the last Carter album he would release on Cash Money Records.
January 2014 -- With his singles "Stoner" and "Danny Glover/2 Bitches" buzzing with artists like Drake and Kanye West, Young Thug gave one of his first interviews since 2011. He said that he'd rather work with Lil Wayne more than Michael Jackson.
February 2014 -- Young Thug told Mass Appeal that he signed with Cash Money Records, sparking a lot of confusion as to what label he was really signed to between1017 Records/Atlantic Records and Cash Money. Thug was also seen all over All Star Weekend (which was in New Orleans that year) with Birdman and Lil Wayne.
March 2014 -- Young Money and Cash Money stood united at The Illmore event at SXSW. It would be one of the last times people saw Birdman and Lil Wayne together. Lil Wayne also seemingly welcomed Thug onto the team with open arms by bringing him out to perform his single "2 Bitches."
May 2014 -- Lil Wayne began campaigning for Tha Carter V by releasing "Believe Me," a warm-up record for the album. Lil Wayne also said that Carter V would be his last album.
May 2014 -- Birdman explains in an interview that he didn't officially manage Young Thug, but he planned to bring him to YMCMB soon. This raised even more questions as to the actual home of the buzzing rapper. A Buzzfeed article, published a few weeks prior, revealed uncomfortable details surrounding Thug's signing to Atlantic Records, stating that he was dumped on the label as a product of his allegiance with Gucci Mane’s 1017 Brick Squad label, and his own ignorance about how label deals work. His binding production deal was said by a source to be worth a measly $15,000 advance.
June 2014 -- Young Thug, Rich Homie Quan, and Birdman released the single "Lifestyle" under the "Rich Gang" moniker. The song, and accompanying music video, would go on to become a Billboard Top 100 hit and viral phenomenon.
June 2014 -- After he announced a joint tour with Drake for the fall called the Lil Wayne vs Drake Tour, Lil Wayne dropped another buzz record titled "Krazy." It didn’t reach the heights of "Believe Me," which continued to garner buzz without a video and seemingly with no support from Cash Money Records.
June 2014 -- Thug told MTV News that he was signed only to YMCMB as Birdman looked on.
August 2014 -- Lil Wayne released yet another buzz single for Tha Carter V titled "Grindin." This song also featured Drake, and wasn't received as well as "Believe Me." A video for the single has yet to be released.
August 2014 -- Lil Wayne announced the release date for Tha Carter V: October 28. Still no video for "Believe Me," the album's lead single.
September 2014 -- With majority of his support geared towards non-Cash Money artists Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan, Birdman begins a huge campaign leading to the release of the critically acclaimed Rich Gang: Tha Tour, Vol. 1. The mixtape didn't feature any appearances by Cash Money Records artists. In fact, it seemed like Birdman was planning to either dissolve or move away from Cash Money in this period. He no longer mentioned Cash Money artists that were signed to the label. When former Hot Boys rapper Juvenile re-signed with the label, the artwork for the single "Show Me Love" (which featured Drake, ironically) had "Rich Gang" front and center.
Birdman promoted "Rich Gang" in name and in music through a catchy vocal drop that could be heard on nearly every song Thug or Quan appeared on as well. (This could have been his way of getting a feature credit also, as he's featured on nearly every song on the tape, even if he doesn’t vocally show up with a verse.) His new clothing line had no reference to Cash Money or even Young Money. The mixtape also received a huge push that included videos but not an actual tour, which raised more questions than anything else considering the name. The mixtape acted as a prelude to the upcoming Rich Gang 2 album, which was supposed to be released before 2014 was over.
October 2014 -- Young Thug told MTV that he planned on doing the ultimate homage to his idol by naming his album Tha Carter VI. He also said that "[Wayne did] 1-5... I'm going to do 6-10." Birdman was present, of course, and didn't say anything.
October 2014 -- Young Thug and Lil Wayne released their first collaboration together titled "Take Kare," for the (now canceled) Rich Gang 2 album. As of today, it is also their last collaboration.
October 2014 -- After a few weeks of silence, Lil Wayne formally pushed back Tha Carter V in a video blog to his fans. His reasoning? "I've been recording too much." In order to "not cheat" fans, Wayne announced that Tha Carter V would be split into two parts, with the first dropping on Dec. 9. Wayne then leaked yet another buzz single titled "Gotti," which featured The LOX.
November 2014 -- LondonOnDaTrack, Young Thug's longtime friend and producer, posted a picture of Wayne and Thug in the studio (with Birdman in the background), which implied that they were making more music together.
December 2014 -- Days before its release, Lil Wayne confirmed what we all knew but were secretly afraid to admit: Tha Carter V wasn't coming out… at least not any time soon. In a string of tweets, Wayne says that Birdman refused to release it, and he's a "prisoner" to the label.
Lil Wayne's manager, Cortez Bryant, told TMZ at first that Wayne wasn't leaving the label. He then told TMZ that he was being "sarcastic," and that the situation between Lil Wayne and Cash Money Records was "serious."
January 2015 -- Lil Wayne released Sorry 4 The Wait 2, a mixtape filled with scathing disses at Birdman and Cash Money Records. A few days later he filed a lawsuit against Cash Money Records for $51 million, claiming he was owed for the recording and completion of Tha Carter V, as well as monetary compensation for Drake and Nicki Minaj. Birdman didn't respond.
March 2015 -- Young Thug embarks on the "Rodeo" tour with Travi$ Scott. Birdman joined them on nearly every stop during the tour, performing a medley of old Cash Money songs.
April 2015 -- Young Thug announced Carter 6 mixtape on Instagram by showing off its provocative cover:
Two days later, Lil Wayne responded to the announcement by dissing Young Thug at a show by saying that people shouldn't listen to people who "pose naked on their album covers":
Young Thug responded on Instagram and said that he would never go back and forth with Wayne, who he considered his "idol":
April 2015 -- Lil Wayne allegedly disses Young Thug again when saying "ain't no motherfuckin' such thing as Carter 6" at one of his Release Partiez show in Colombus, Ohio.
April 2015 -- Days before its release, Young Thug said, in a now deleted Instagram post, that he was forced to rename the release from Carter 6 to simply Barter 6. Thug and his friends (including Jimmy "PeeWee" Winfrey) were visibly incensed about the change. This post would be the first of many antagonistic posts against Wayne, as Thug boasts that the first show he would do in support for the mixtape would be in Wayne's hometown of Hollygrove, Louisiana:
April 2015 -- Barter 6 is released.
April 2015 -- Thug kept his promise, and performed in Louisiana. He didn't receive a hero's welcome, and was booed while onstage.
Coincidentally, on the same night Lil Wayne was performing in Thug's hometown of Atlanta, his tour bus was shot at on the highway.
May 2015 -- Young Thug does an interview with NDO radio confirming that he's signed to 300 Entertainment, not Cash Money/Rich Gang, effectively ending the run of the troubled trio. He also further cooled down the relationship with Birdman with the interesting comment that he and the label owner are merely friends. He doesn't miss the opportunity to mention Lil Wayne however; he said that he was planning on naming his next project Tha Carter V. He seemed perturbed about Wayne's album not being out as he said "I don't know what the fuck they doing... so I'm going to put the motherfucker out for him." Homage, or trolling?
May 2015 -- Jimmy "Peewee" Winfrey is arrested on charges of being responsible for shooting up Lil Wayne's tour bus in April. He is held without bond. Peewee is allegedly the guy holding the assault rifle in Thug's Instagram video before Barter 6's release.
July 2015 -- Lil Wayne released his Free Weezy Album on Jay Z's Tidal music platform. Was that a jab at Birdman? Birdman had a reported rivalry with Jay for quite some time, stemming from comments Birdman said about Jay not being better than Lil Wayne, and not making as much money as Cash Money Records. The comments caused a small back and forth between Wayne and Jay on wax, including raps onWatch The Throne and Carter IV.
A few days later, when asked about Young Thug on a radio interview, Lil Wayne said that he "appreciates" Thug for being a huge fan, and for choosing to name his albumCarter VI. "I'd have to be a monster to just overlook that," he added. It seemed like the issue between the two was finally dying down.
July 2015 -- After being told that he couldn't ride his Hovertrax scooter in the mall, Young Thug reportedly threatened to shoot a mall officer in the face outside of Dunwoody's Perimeter Mall in Georgia.
July 2015 -- Young Thug is arrested for "terroristic threats" stemming from the July 7 mall incident. He was hit with additional drugs and weapons charges as well, after police searched his home.
July 2015 -- Young Thug and Birdman are named in an indictment (but not charged) against Winfrey, who allegedly shot at Lil Wayne's tour bus in April. The most important allegations in the indictment are that Winfrey called Thug before the shooting, and Birdman afterward. Prosecutors said that along with being a high-ranking member of the Bloods, Thug sent thinly-veiled shots at Wayne in the song and video for "Halftime." The allegations are shaky at best, especially those regarding "Halftime." The song leaked months before it officially became a single on Barter 6. The implication in itself is a strange twist on the story, which reached a scary turn just weeks after Thug and Wayne had seemingly ended their stand off. Birdman has stayed silent.
July 2015 -- Young Thug was released on $10,000 bail. A court date has not been set yet. Birdman finally responds -- to Lil Wayne's lawsuit, that is -- by suing Jay Z's Tidal music platform for $50 Million for releasing the FWA album a few weeks prior. He claims Cash Money has exclusive rights to Wayne's music.

As of Monday, rapper Lil Wayne has a new moniker: Inmate Carter.
The platinum-selling artist (real name: Dwayne Michael Carter Jr.), who began his yearlong jail sentence for gun possession on Monday, is facing a lot of new circumstances these days.
The rapper is living among the general population of inmates at the Eric. M. Taylor Center (the facility for sentenced males at Riker's Island), but he is also afforded a low level of protective custody, due to his public profile.
"Inmate Carter is in a category of housing that we call 'general population/escort,' " a New York City Department of Corrections official tells PEOPLE. That means when he leaves the housing area (his cell or the day room), he will have a captain escorting him at all times.
Keep up with your favorite celebs in the pages of PEOPLE Magazine by subscribing now.
On an hourly basis, the rapper can decide if he wants to be locked in his cell or locked out of it – for security reasons, inmates are not allowed to freely move between their cell and the common areas.
What else can Lil' Wayne expect from the year ahead? The official shared the following details:
• The Day Room In this common area, which he shares with 19 other inmates, Lil Wayne can watch television, play cards, read the paper or just socialize. Since the day room is within the housing area, he does not have an escort here.
• The Meals Breakfast is served at 4:30 a.m. Since a number of inmates will be going to court on any given day, the morning starts early for Riker's residents. Lunch is served at 11, dinner at 4:30 p.m.
• The Clothes Lil Wayne will wear the standard institutional clothing: Green work shirt and pants, slip-on style sneakers.
• The Cell His six-by-ten space features a steel cot connected to the wall, a mattress, a sheet, a blanket and a pillow. There's a sink and toilet in the cell as well, plus his personal property which includes the standard cup, razor, toothbrush and soap assigned to each inmate.
• Outside the Housing Area With his escort, Lil Wayne can leave the housing area for attorney visits, regular visits (he'll get two per week with up to three visitors), religious services or jail-offered programs such as one that helps inmates transition back into society. While some inmates have work assignments in and around the jail, he will not because, "then you'd have to send somebody off to escort him every day," says the official.
• Recreation One hour per day. The rapper's facility features outdoor basketball courts. • The Commissary He can buy snacks and toiletries from his Commissary account, which friends and family can contribute to online. Reports that he'll have an ipod are untrue, though he can purchase a battery-operated AM/FM radio and earphones to listen to music.
And while Lil Wayne has made his share of headlines for going to Riker's Island, he's not the first celebrity to do so. Former stars in custody at Riker's have included New York Giants receiver Plaxico Burress, and musicians Foxy Brown and Busta Rhymes. Jokes the official: "It's a hall of fame."

Lil Wayne is a Grammy Award-winning rapper known for his hit albums, mixtapes and singles, including "A Milli" and "Lollipop."
“It was my mom's gun. It was like a chopper hit me. But the bullet went straight through, and I bounced back in two weeks.”
Lil Wayne - Mini Biography (TV-14; 2:51) Lil Wayne joined Cash Money Records at the age of 9. After success as part of the duo B.G. and group Hot Boys, he released his debut solo album in 1999 and often appears on songs by other artists.
Born on September 27, 1982, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Lil Wayne worked with hip-hop group the Hot Boys before forging a solo career with albums Tha Carter and its hit follow ups II, III and IV. He won four Grammy Awards in 2009 for singles like "A Milli" and "Lollipop," and has worked with artists ranging from Robin Thicke to Nicki Minaj. He was jailed in 2010 for weapon's possession.
Rapper Lil Wayne was born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. on September 27, 1982, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Lil Wayne has been creating music since he was a child, and is considered among today's most talented rappers. He grew up in Hollygrove, one of New Orleans' poorest neighborhoods.
Lil Wayne started rapping at the age of 8. He later met brothers Bryan and Slim Williams, the founders of Cash Money Records, who were impressed enough with his skills to give him one of their business cards. Ambitious, Wayne continued to call them until they took him under their wing and let him hang around the label's offices.
Lil Wayne's first recording for Cash Money Records was True Stories (1993), performing with another skilled rapper, B.G., under the name the BGs. Away from the studios, he was living dangerously. He sold crack for a time, and accidentally shot himself in the chest, according to an article in Rolling Stone. "It was my mom's gun," Wayne told the magazine in 2008. "It was like a chopper hit me. But the bullet went straight through, and I bounced back in two weeks."
As part of the Hot Boys, Lil Wayne got his first taste of success. The group was made up of several of Cash Money's rising stars—B.G., Juvenile, Turk and Wayne. Their debut album, Get It How U Live (1997), sold more than 400,000 copies. Their next effort, Guerilla Warfare (1999), did even better, eventually selling more than 1 million copies. At the age of 16, Lil Wayne was on his way to music stardom.
That same year, Lil Wayne launched his solo career with Tha Block Is Hot(1999). The title track was a big hit, and the album reached the top of the hip-hop charts. Featuring appearances by members of the Hot Boys as well as the Big Tymers (Brian Williams and Mannie Fresh), the recording went double platinum. Fresh also served as Wayne's producer on the recording.
The rapper's next two albums, Lights Out (2000) and 500 Degreez (2002), sold modestly compared to his debut. Then, in a career-changing move, Lil Wayne took a break from creating a traditional style album and released his first collection from his underground mixtapes: Da Drought (2003). His mixtape tracks usually feature beats borrowed from other artists with new lyrics that he creates.
In 2004, Lil Wayne released Tha Carter, a hugely popular album that helped cement his reputation as one of rap's leading performers. The single, "Go D.J." did well on the rap, hip-hop, and pop charts. Rolling Stone critic Christian Hoard said that "Wayne's syrupy drawl sounds more dextrous than ever" on the album.
Quickly following up this latest wave of success, Wayne released Tha Carter II in December 2005. The album debuted at the No. 2 spot on the Billboardpop charts and brought more critical praise for Wayne. A cameo appearance on the Destiny's Child smash hit "Soldier" only further enhanced Wayne's popularity.
Over the next few years, Lil Wayne released several more popular mixtape recordings, including the critically adored Dedication, Vol. 2 (2006), which he made with DJ Drama. Around the same time, Wayne teamed up with Cash Money mentor Bryan William (also known as "Baby" and "Birdman") to create the album Like Father, Like Son (2006), which spawned the hit "Stuntin' Like My Daddy."
In response to several unreleased tracks being made public over the internet, Lil Wayne released the download-only EP The Leak in 2007. The songs came from his work on his anxiously anticipated next studio album, which was finally released in 2008: Tha Carter III hit the top of the rap, hip-hop and pop charts, selling more than 1 million copies in its first week of release.
Tha Carter III features several successful singles, including the No. 1 hits "A Milli" and "Lollipop," a track that he recorded with Static Major. Jay-Z appeared on the track "Mr. Carter," and T-Pain was featured on "Got Money." Babyface, Robin Thicke, Busta Rhymes and Juelz Santana also made cameos. The project netted the Grammy Award for best rap album, and Lil Wayne picked up three more honors at the February 2009 awards ceremony. He won the Grammy for best rap song for "Lollipop," earned the Grammy for best rap solo performance for "A Milli" and shared the award for best rap performance by a duo or group with Jay-Z, T.I. and Kanye West, for "Swagga Like Us."
During the summer of 2009, Lil Wayne spent much of his time on the road with the Young Money Presents: America's Most Wanted Music Festival, which also featured Young Jeezy, Soulja Boy and Drake. In August 2009, Wayne signed rapper Bow Wow to his label. That same year, the rapper performed with Jay Sean on his hit song "Down," from Sean's 2009 album All of Nothing.
Lil Wayne released his seventh studio album, the rock-influenced Rebirth, in February 2010. His eighth studio project, I Am Not a Human Being, was released that same year. Both projects were well-received.
In August 2011, Wayne released his fourth installment of Tha Carter series, Tha Carter IV, which quickly met with success. In its first four days online, the album saw 300,000 song downloads on iTunes—setting a new record on the media-downloading application. Hits from the album include "Mirror," featuring the smooth vocals of R&B singer-songwriter Bruno Mars, and "It's Good," featuring fellow rappers Drake and Jadakiss.
Not one to rest on his laurels, in March 2013, Lil Wayne put out his 10th studio album, I Am Not a Human Being II, to great acclaim. The recording sold 217,000 copies in its first week and debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart.
In the meantime, Lil Wayne has been busy building up his Cash Money record label, working with other recording artists and even helping underprivileged kids. The rapper established a charitable organization to help urban youth, the One Family Foundation, through which he worked to rebuild the athletic fields at his old school, Eleanor McMain Secondary School, after they were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Despite all of his success, Wayne has never forgotten his roots.
Known to be fond of smoking marijuana, Lil Wayne has found himself in trouble with the law on several occasions in recent years. He was arrested in Georgia for drug possession in 2006, and again in Arizona on drug-related charges in January 2008.
After making a deal with PepsiCo to promote its Moutain Dew soda brand, Lil Wayne was dropped by the company in May 2013 after releasing a song containing derogatory lyrics referencing civil rights icon Emmett Till. Both Pepsi and Wayne garnered negative publicity due to the song lyrics.
Wayne was previously married to a high school girlfriend, with whom he has a daughter named Reginae.
