Murda Beatz Talks Producing “No Frauds”, Working With Drake & More

Murda Beatz recently chopped it up with Complex to speak on working with Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne and Drake on their “No Frauds” single and using the flute on Drizzy‘s “Portland” beat.

The producer also revealed producing Drizzy Drake‘s “With You” has been his most rewarding experience so far and how the “Murda on the beat, so it’s not nice” tag from the 6 God happened.

You can read what Murda Beatz said after the jump below!

What has been your most rewarding experience so far?
I’d say, probably, [Drake’s] “With You”. Because that was just like, a game changer. You told me earlier it was one of your favorite beats by me, and I feel like it was just very unexpected. When the Views tracklist came out, and people saw that there was a Drake song with Partynextdoor produced by Murda Beatz, everyone was like, “Oh, this is gonna be a crazy trap song Titanfall 2 Ps4 Price!” But then, when it came out, they were like, “What the fuck?” You know what I mean? So, I feel like that really opened people’s eyes to what I could do and my range of production and stuff. That opened a lot of doors and changed a lot of things, too.

Well, you’re already doing that right now, kinda, cause you got Zayn, and then you got one of the hardest beats out right now with “Portland.” Talk a little bit about the flute craze that’s going on in rap right now.
It’s just making its way up in the music— definitely probably, like, one of the hottest urban— or definitely the hottest urban instrument in music right now. Yeah, but, people have been using the flute for a long time. I feel like Zay[toven] really stamped the come up on the flute and stuff, but I’ve been using the flute now for, like, four years in my beats. Now more people are catching on and using it as well. It’s good to see how things go and progress.

Speaking of “No Frauds,” how crazy was that to be on Nicki Minaj’s big comeback?
I was surprised because I knew— Drake actually called me, and he was like, “Yeah, man, I just did a song with Nicki and it was actually on your beat. I guess we got another one.” So, I knew that it was gonna come out, and I kept seeing online the rumor was that Nicki, Drake, and Wayne were dropping a song that day. So, I was like, oh, shit. Then when it came out, it just broke the internet. The video’s coming soon, too. It’s gonna be dope.

You always had the “M-m-Murda” tag but now the new one everybody loves is the “Murda on the beat, so it’s not nice”.
Shout out to Baka!

Were you in the studio when that happened? How did that come about?
What happened with that was Drake’s boy Baka started rapping, so I started working with him, helping him with his rap stuff. And just one day, we were in the studio, he said— they always call him “Baka Not Nice.” So, then, he said on the hook, “Baka, a.k.a. I’m not nice, Murda on the beat, so it’s not nice”. And when we dropped the song, everyone fucked with it. Drake was fuckin’ with it and shit. And then, when I started sending Drake some beats, he’s like, “Yo, you should get the Baka, a.k.a. not nice—you should get that on your song.” So, I got that from the session and I started using it as a tag, and then Drake said it on “No Long Talk” on More Life.

Recently Released Rikers Inmate Talks About Lil Wayne’s Jail Life

Recently Released Rikers Inmate Talks About Lil Waynes Jail Life I was just reading through the LilWayneHQ forums, and I found a really interesting story posted by DatShyt about a recently released inmate from Rikers Island talking about Weezy‘s life in prison. You can read the full story below, and I am sure you will all find it interesting too!
Since I’ve been locked up until now, one of the main things I constantly get asked about is Lil Wayne, who was incarcerated at Rikers Island at the same time I was. During my stay at Rikers Island, I was placed in General Population at the E.M.T.C. (C-76 aka “6 Building”) where all male sentenced inmates are held. I would spend most of my time working, drawing, watching bootleg DVDs, and listening to the radio. Inmates would get paid $10-$25 a week for various jobs around the jail. For a few months of my time I worked; not for the money as much but to help pass the time. My job on the Island was to rinse and scrub pots in the mess hall as well as deliver the dinner food wagons with my friend and fellow inmate Geoff Turbeville to Protective Custody (“P.C.” – 3 Upper), Administrative Segregation (“AdSeg” – 2 Upper), New Admission Cells & C.A.T Cells (Cells for New Inmates and Inmates who had Assaulted Staff -2 & 3 Main), and Mental Observation Dorm (“M.O.” – 1 Main).
Contrary to what was written in most newspapers Dwayne “Lil Wayne” Carter was housed in Protective Custody Cells. This is where the jail would house some Snitches, Homosexuals, Child Molesters, Incarcerated Cops, former Correctional Officers, and occasionally High-Profile Cases. Basically anyone who would or have had a problem in general population.
These Inmates were not allowed to leave their respective housing areas to go to the mess hall, so we would have bring the meals to them. While doing this I would sometimes see humorous stuff. One time I witnessed an inmate who worked as a pantry worker in 2 & 3 Upper throw a loaf of bread through a food port in the day room at Lil Wayne and yell at him “Welcome to my hood BITCH! Where’s your Cash Money now MOTHER FUCKER!”. Lil Wayne glanced back at the rather large inmate and proceeded to try and ignore him while watching TV. On our runs we would see crazy inmates in the M.O. House get pepper sprayed for fighting in the dorm and all sorts of other wild stuff…
While up in these areas for work I was given this book, which was sent to Lil Wayne. I found the Inscription to be rather interesting to say the least.
Lil Wayne Book Cover In Prison
Lil Wayne Inside Book Cover In Prison Lil Wayne was treated no different by the staff than any other inmate. He didn’t have any laptop or any other special privileges. The only thing that would separate him from the rest was that he had “front gate visits” (visits in private). Where all other inmates would see friends and family in a big gymnasium.
This is the only time he was allowed to leave his housing area, and was the only time (other than when he took methadone for drug withdrawal at the clinic) he would have any type of contact with inmates in general population while walking the halls to his visits. He would always look at the floor and never talk as he was escorted by captains to his visit. He would make all attempts to avoid any type of eye contact with any other inLil Wayne Drawing In Prison
While locked up I drew Lil Wayne from the Rolling Stone cover he was featured on. I had professional prints sent into the jail to sell and get copies (some of which were later confiscated by Correctional Officers) signed by Weezy for friends and family. I spent days trying to steal a sharpie from various areas around the building. I eventually had to buy one with some commissary soups from a gay inmate who would get sharpies from program offices and use them for lip liner.
At times around the jail you would hear ridiculous stories, lies and rumors about Lil Wayne. Randomly in intake and other parts of the building you would find little stick figure drawings of him behind bars. I would normally ignore most of the ignorant comments and lies that the inmates would say in regards to Lil Wayne. I would sit back and let them talk their bullshit without letting them know I delivered his food and others. My friend and co-worker made that mistake once; he was later asked by Blood Gang Members to send kites (letters from one inmate to another which is against the rules of the jail) to Wayne, asking for money or legal representation for appeals and other open cases. Soon after receiving my drawings of Lil Wayne, I was moved out of my working dorm to a high risk “main” dorm for an unrelated “incident” in the house, consequently I was no longer able to work anymore…

Hip-Hop Health- Lil Wayne (Epilepsy)

Lil Wayne has opened up about his recent health drama, revealing he has epilepsy and regularly suffers life-threatening seizures, which fans never hear about.

Wayne has been in and out of hospital in recent weeks after collapsing on set of Nicki amd ending up in intensive care following another admission to a medical facility.

He was released last week and quickly put plans in place for a U.S. tour with his rapper peer T.I., but now the star has spoken out about the truth behind his health woes – he’s epileptic.

Explaining how he often suffers seizures, he tells radio station Power 106, “This wasn’t my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh … I have had a bunch of seizures, you just never hear about them.”

He then reveals the public found out about his most recent episode because he almost died: “This time it got real bad ’cause I had three of them in a row and on the third one, my heart rate went down to like 30 percent. Basically, I could’ve died, so that is why it was so serious.

“Certain times I don’t even go to the hospital, but this time, it was real bad because it was three in a row, and I’ve never had three back to back like that.”

The star blames his hectic schedules for bringing on the trio of seizures, adding, “The reason being for the seizures is just plain stress, no rest, overworking myself. That’s just typical me though.”
Seizures and epilepsy can be more complicated than you think. It’s not a ‘one size fits all problem’. There are many different types of seizures that can affect people in different ways. While seizures can be easy to diagnose and control for some people, for many others, epilepsy is a lifelong problem that can affect people in many different ways. Whether you are new to epilepsy or have known it all your life, the more you learn, the stronger you’ll be. Here’s a map of what you’ll find in this section. Start at Epilepsy 101: The Basics to gain a basic understanding of the disorder and how it can affect people, then move on to more detailed sections and advanced content. Once you learn about epilepsy, the next steps will be much easier. We hope you’ll feel more confident about managing seizures and not let epilepsy get in your way. (Epilepsy.com)

Birdman breaks silence on Lil Wayne fallout: 'He's my son and I love him'

The Cash Money boss spoke to Power 105.1 host Angie Martinez about his relationship with Lil Wayne, which he insists is healthy despite rapper’s $51m lawsuit against him and his alleged involvement in a plot to shoot his tour bus

Birdman (real name Bryan Williams), the CEO of Cash Money records who has been involved with a very public spat with rapper Lil Wayne, insists their relationship is solid and that he still sees the rapper as his son.

Speaking to Power 105.1 host Angie Martinez, who he invited to his mansion and yacht in Miami over the course of a two-day interview, the mogul said their current disputes are just “business”.

For that man to open his mouth and say something negative about me … that affected my life.Bryan 'Birdman' Williams

“Wayne is forever my son. I think that what’s going on is just some business,” he said. “He’s my son and I love him to death. What’s going on now I don’t really know how it’s going to turn out.”

The pair have been embroiled in a legal battle since January, when Lil Wayne fileda $51m lawsuit against Cash Money after his much anticipated Tha Carter Valbum failed to be released. Cash Money took legal action against Lil Wayne in July after his record Free Weezy Album appeared on Jay Z’s streaming service Tidal, suing for $50m.

The rapper told his fans on Twitter that his label was unwilling to release his album and that he was a “prisoner”. Those remarks surprised Birdman who told Martinez: “That was a shock for everybody. I never thought he’d be saying something negative about me. For that man to open his mouth and say something negative about me … that affected my life.”

Lil Wayne reportedly wanted to take Drake and Nicki Minaj – arguably the two most high profile rappers operating today – with him, but Birdman poured cold water on that proposition.

“Nicki and Drake ain’t going nowhere,” he told Martinez, who then asked if the pair were happy, to which Birdman said yes: “Both of them, very. I’ve got much respect for them because they’ve got much respect for Dwayne Carter and Bryan Williams. Regardless of what goes down with us, they ain’t going anywhere.”

When Martinez quizzed him about the recent indictment that named Williams and rapper Young Thug as being involved in a plot to shoot Lil Wayne’s tour bus in April, he said the accusations were farcical.

“It’s about the craziest shit I’ve ever heard of my life,” he said. “You crazy if you believe that. You know how I am about Wayne. I love him, he’s my son.”

He added that he worries about Lil Wayne, after rumours of gang-related threats being made against him surfaced.

“Anybody who gets in this game knows it can get gangsta sometime, it can come to you or come around you. We in this shit and we got to be ready for it,” he said.

A full version of the exclusive interview is due to appear on Power 105.1’s website later on Tuesday.

Lil Wayne refiles $51m lawsuit against Cash Money Records

Lawyers for the rapper confirm the case regarding payment of his album advance will go forward in Louisiana

Lil Wayne claims he has not been paid a multimillion-dollar advance for his album Tha Carter V

Lil Wayne continues his $51m (£34m) lawsuit against Cash Money Records and label co-founder Bryan “Birdman” Williams over the payment of his advance, despite new reports that the rapper had dropped the case.

Rolling Stone magazine have confirmed with the New Orleans artist’s lawyer, Ron Sweeney, that the two sides have refiled the suit. It was originally launched in New York, where Cash Money and its parent company Universal Music Group have offices, but will now be filed in New Orleans, Louisiana, where Wayne first signed his Cash Money contract in 1998.

In a statement to the magazine, Sweeney claims his client gave Cash Money until 6 April to file an answer. “[The label] said they were going to challenge the venue, so at that point it was a waste of time and money [to proceed],” he says, explaining why Lil Wayne and his record label Young Money – a subsidiary of Cash Money – have moved the suit to Louisiana.

The rapper’s legal team also told Rolling Stone: “The claims previously asserted by Lil Wayne and Young Money LLC against Cash Money for substantial monies owed and breach of fiduciary duty have not been settled and will be prosecuted in Louisiana as expeditiously as possible.”

Cash Money has not yet responded.

Lil Wayne’s public dismissal of Cash Money began December 2014, when the rapper tweeted: “I want off this label.” He went on to accuse Cash Money and Williams of refusing to release his album Tha Carter V.

“I want … nothing to do with these people, but unfortunately it ain’t that easy,”the rapper wrote. “I am a prisoner and so is my creativity. Again, I am truly sorry and I don’t blame ya if ya fed up with waiting for me and this album.”

Wayne claims he has not been paid a multimillion-dollar advance for Tha Carter V. It is speculated that he may take artists Nicki Minaj and Drake – signed to his Young Money label – with him.

The rapper filed his suit against Cash Money in January. The Carter V would be the second album on Wayne’s 2012 four-album deal with Cash Money, following 2013’s I Am Not a Human Being II.

Lil Wayne Sued by Lawyer Over Unpaid Legal Bills: Report

Lil Wayne performs during Billboard Hot 100 Festival - Day 1 at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater on Aug. 22, 2015 in Wantagh, New York.
KEVIN MAZUR/GETTY IMAGES FOR BILLBOARD

Michael Kramer represented Wayne in his efforts to be released from his Cash Money Records contract and on Monday (Dec. 21) filed a lawsuit against his former client in the Manhattan federal court for failing to pay $375,239 in fees, XXLreports.Lil Wayne is reportedly being sued by his former lawyer over unpaid legal bills.
Wayne agreed to pay Kramer $20,000 as an initial retainer and then subsequent monthly bills in July 2013, according to Kramer's suit, but the rapper allegedly failed to pay those bills.
XXL reports Kramer's law firm billed Wayne unsuccessfully from November 2014 to October 2015 and finally dropped him as a client due to the outstanding debt.
Kramer claims in the lawsuit he "made numerous attempts to resolve the dispute amicably. These attempts were ultimately unsuccessful."
Wayne was sued in October by another law firm -- Garbett, Allen and Roza -- for $80,000 in unpaid legal fees. That firm was representing Wayne in a lawsuit against him from private jet leasing company the Signature Group, to whom he was ordered to pay $2 million in missing payments.
